Writing is a much more difficult task than it seems. It takes hand strength, find motor coordination, and cooperation between the two hands. There are many activities that can help develop and fine-tune these areas. Writing with cookie cutters is one that can really help!
Select a variety of cookie cutters, including shapes, letters, numbers, even interesting objects. Set the cutters on a piece of paper. Use one hand to hold a cutter in place and the other hand to trace along the inside of it with a pencil. That can be hard! Don’t give up though… keep trying to get your “helper hand” to hold that cutter still for you.

You can try it again with crayons, colored pencils, markers, even Q-tips dipped in water! See if any of them are easier than the others.
For variation, try tracing inside the letter and number cutters to create a letter shape. It is easier or more difficult to trace in the center of the cutter?

Have fun tracing all different shapes and fill your paper up! Your hands will get so strong!
